Electric cars tax credit now eligible in Oklahoma

Oklahoma City - The Oklahoma Tax Commission on Wednesday issued rules that prevent vehicles from certain electrical energy that are eligible for tax credit countries.

Came one week after the vehicle electrical distributors sued to block implementation of the fee rules.

"They made a step in the right direction," said Roger Gaddis, owner of It's Electric cars, which sued the Tax Commission and three commissioners to prevent enforcement of rules.

Gaddis said the rules would prohibit the buyer from electric vehicles from cars to claim the tax credit.

"They will make hundreds, if not thousands, taxpayers in Oklahoma happy because they have taken appropriate action and not trying to change the rules in the middle of the game," said Gaddis.

Existing tax credits allow buyers of electric vehicles to claim income tax credit worth 50 percent of the purchase price that can be spread over five years.

But the Tax Commission passed an emergency on 17 September issued the electric vehicle body similar to a golf car or go-car, non-traditional passenger cars. Also excluded are vehicles designed and produced especially for sports or recreational purposes.

Interpreter speak Commission Paula Ross said the purpose of the emergency rules is to establish standards of eligibility for income tax credit. However, commissioners did not feel it reach its goals.

Ross said the income tax credit application to be reviewed in accordance with the use of the existing rules in place before the diadopsi.

Gaddis said the rules would prohibit owners of vehicles such as electric golf car he sold to claim the tax credit this year and in subsequent years, even though the vehicle exceeds the standard road-way of federal law for cars.

Vehicles, produced by Tomberlin, has dilisensi the Oklahoma Motor Vehicle Commission for more than three years and direkayasa way to become law, low-speed vehicles, Gaddis word. The most popular model sold without accessories costs about $ 8500, he said.

"We are very pleased that they have been cast and only put back in place what the legislators intended," said Gaddis.

He says he will meet with the presenters before deciding whether to continue the suits, filed 23 September Enid in Garfield County District Court.
